We invite you to discover Kihnu island which belongs into the list cultural heritage of UNESCO.
Kihnu is the biggest island in the Livonian Bay and the seventh biggest Estonian island. The 7 km long and 3.3 km wide island is perfect for a one-day bicycle trip. There are four villages in Kihnu, each of them is interesting and worth visiting. There is a port in Lemsi Village, bigger shops in Sääreküla, a church, a cemetery and a museum of local history in Linaküla, and a lighthouse and a memorial to Kihnu Jõnn in Rootsiküla. Those interested in bird watching should visit the meadows that serve as nesting and recreation areas for numerous species.
The distance from Maria Farm to the Port of Munalaid is 8,5 km. The ferry departs on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri and Sat at 8:45 and therefore, we suggest starting the bicycle trip to Kihnu island no later than at 08:00. The trip with passenger ferry takes 60 minutes.
We will provide you with a small brochure on Kihnu. It includes a map to make it easy for you to find your way on the island. On request, a packed lunch is provided for the trip. On the other hand, you might want to opt for a local eating-place for a meal. The ferry from Kihnu comes back on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun at 16:15. You shall have 6 hours for discovering the island.
